What drives heating electricity costs?

Zoning lets a ducted system heat selected parts of the home. It is particularly useful in larger houses, multi-storey properties and homes where family members keep different schedules. Small home improvements make your heater’s job easier

No heating system can fully compensate for heat escaping through gaps, uninsulated areas or poorly sealed windows. Before assuming your heater is the problem, look at how well the home holds warmth.

Close curtains or blinds as the sun goes down, seal noticeable draughts around doors and windows, and keep internal doors closed to rooms you are not heating. If you are renovating, insulation and glazing choices can have a meaningful long-term effect on comfort and heating demand.

A heater that is slow to warm the home, noisier than usual or producing weak airflow may be using more electricity than it should. Dirty filters restrict airflow and can reduce performance. Outdoor units can also collect leaves, dust and debris, which affects their ability to transfer heat effectively.
